Health is improved by following a healthy diet combined with minimal exercise, but the terms “eating healthy” and “exercise” can mean many things.

A vegetarian thinks eating a diet based on whole grains, soy burgers, and french fries is healthier than eating meat. This same vegetarian might run 10 miles every day, drink coffee, smoke, and have inadequate water intake. This vegetarian may over eat at every meal, chewing improperly, and get too little sleep during the night. This vegetarian may die at 35 years old, and everyone says “See, I told you eating healthy doesn't help you live longer!”.

Both persons are delusional. Each and every person will have a maximum potential lifespan allotted while living under ideal conditions, determined by genetic makeup, disposition, and mental makeup. For example, the maximum life expectancy of one man under perfect conditions, following what is best for HIS body, may be 100 years. He eats poorly, is inactive, and constantly thinks negatively (which entirely affects the nervous system and bodily function. Psychoneuroimmunology. Look it up.). He lives to 45 years old. If this same man were to follow the laws set forth for his own bodily health, he may live to 70. Nobody has absolute perfect conditions. Nobody can choose how they are fed in the start of life. No perfect environment exists.

Another man may have a maximum potential of 140 years (rare, and possible) under ideal conditions. He eats a horrible diet, smokes, drinks little, but lives to 110 years old. Some say, again “SEE, you don't need to eat healthy to live long or healthy! Stop caring about your health!”. This is nothing but ignorance. If health and fitness are desired, they simply cannot be attained (without luck) through neglecting the body.

A nutrient dense diet, high water consumption, fresh air, abstaining from drugs, and moderate exercise can only improve health. Don't focus on age, but health. Longevity does NOT equal health, and health does not equal longevity. Everyone will die from one or the other: a freak accident; from sickness when the body's life potential is up. Simple.
